Tea Cakes, Shortbread and Porridge

As we mark Commonwealth Day 2026, there’s no better moment to celebrate the imagination and welcome of the next generation. These are just a handful of the experiences Glasgow school pupils believe athletes and fans must enjoy when they arrive for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

When invited to capture what makes their city special, the pupils filled their pages with the sights, flavours and everyday moments that mean the most to them - from the museums and green spaces they explore at weekends, to the striking landmarks they pass on the way to school, to the comforting tastes that remind them of home.

Their collages feel like handwritten postcards in pencil and crayon: warm invitations from the youngest Glaswegians, eager to welcome the Commonwealth family this summer.

That same spirit will be felt across the city when the Games take place from 23 July to 2 August 2026. Visitors and locals alike can be part of the celebration, with tickets available now at glasgow2026.com.
